Westfield Development Initiative (WDI) and Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI) collaborated to commemorate the 2018 World Malaria Day with a free Medical Outreach and football tournament. The outreach themed ‘Kick Against Malaria’ aimed to, utilize the convening power of football to mobilize the Alimosho community towards important malaria prevention and treatment practices.The Outreach took place at Pako Field, Omituntun Youth Centre, Akowonjo, Lagos on the 28th of April 2018.
Up to 1000 families benefited from testing, treatment and health education services provided at the outreach. Services provided included malaria, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, HIV/AIDS tests and counselling, weight/height/BMI check, medical consults and pharmacy service. Attending families also received Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLINs) with proper use and care instructions.
