Westfield Development Initiative, through its 6th annual medical outreach, commemorated the 2019 World Malaria Day themed zero malaria starts with me. In view of a recent WHO report that reveals that the steady advances made in the fight against malaria saw a leveling off, with no significant gains in the period 2015 – 2017, it is important that we all ramp up effort and build momentum back up for zero malaria communities.
The medical outreach held on the 27th of April, 2019 at Akinola field Aboru, Alimosho Local Government Area. The outreach convened more than 700 people from Aboru and surrounding neighborhoods. Services rendered included: health and environmental care education, free medical/vitality checks (Blood pressure, blood sugar level, BMI, Weight, height), Rapid diagnostic tests for malaria, HIV/AIDS screening, one-on-one consultations, eye screening (and free glasses where applicable), and pharmacy service. Free LLINs {long lasting insecticide nets} were also distributed to families.
